Our trip to Costa Rica
Hello, and welcome to our Costa Rica trip page. My cousin Dana (Heya!) planned her wedding for the 1st of January 2005, in
Boston. Michal and I decided to make a trip to Costa Rica before that, and we ended up being 3 weeks in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a little country in Central America. A 'classic' tropical country, it has great forests, beaches and some
lovely mountains. You can expect great views, beautiful walks, and exciting animals - but not much else. Most indigenous people have
died long ago from diseases that the spaniards brought with them, when they first came to Costa Rica. You won't see much culture,
or ancient buildings. Still, Costa Rica is taking care of its natural reserves, and is very eco-minded.
This page has all sorts of recommendations, pictures and other advice about Costa Rica. I hope you'll enjoy it...

On the way to Tortuguero
Tortuguero is located in the North-East of Costa Rica, on the Caribbean coast. It is basically a village, surrounded by canals, in which
you can ride boats, and see beautiful forests, and animals. We had taken an organized trip from San Jose, for 3 days (2 nights), staying
in Pachira Lodge, which was very pretty. On the way we visited a Banana factory, which was cool (oops, sorry, I promised never
to write 'cool' again in my travelogues. So this is the last time). You'll have to admit, though, that the Banana picture is quite good!
After a long bus ride on some unpaved road (Costa Ricans do not excel in road building, to say the least), we finally
got to a boat, taking us to the Lodge.
Tortuguero Canals
The whole area in Tortuguero is actually split by this big canals, with amazing rain-forest on all sides, and lot's of
birds and other animals. There are lodges and houses on the banks as well. You can also see Tortuguero village on that
last photo here...
Here are some pictures that Michal took. Would you believe she used a non-Digital camera? She is quite an old-fashioned
girl, I guess. But I still love her. Anyway, these are great views of the canal, and some great reflections.
