Arenal
Arenal is one of the common Costa Rican myths. Some say, that ages ago, someone actually saw this mountain.
This someone must have been high on drugs or something.
It is always clouded near Arenal. We actually visited it twice, and you can see how much of the mountain we got to see.
That lake you see is in a place called La Silencia, supposedly the best place to see the clouds in front of the mountain.
Still, the hot water springs were fun (if a bit crowded).
On the way to Monte Verde
The way from Arenal to MonteVerde is very beautiful - although we saw mostly clouds and fog. It is not so easy to
get to MonteVerde - about 30Km of roads takes 4 hours (!) and the signs are horrible (When they exist). We saw one sign swinging
in the wind, and one sign was missing the arrows pointing to the places (The last photo here).
On the way, there's a place where you can go down and see 4 waterfalls, which are quite marvelous.
Well worth the climb up...
