Corcovado
Corcovado is the largest and wildest national park, located in the Osa peninsula (SW of Costa Rica, on the pacific coast).
We intended to do a 3 day tramp through the rain forests. The first day is about 9 hours of walking. It was very very hard - you
have to walk parts of the way on the beach, it was about 40 degrees, hot and humid. Eventually, after almost dying of
thirst, we were saved by an Austrian angel named Gette (or something like that, I'm not sure how to write it, We never got
her E-mail, unfortunately). The next day we came back with a plane. It was much quicker (And also very cheap).
At the beginning, all was great. We started out early in the morning, with a detailed map of the area. We walked
on the first beach for a while, and then entered the forests and saw some anteaters, coates and lot's of Scarlet Macaws.
Corcovado has some great beaches and forests and animals. The first picture you see here is the map that the ranger
gave us.
And then you walk and walk and walk and walk, through beautiful beaches and rivers and forests.
One of the things I love in the Tropics are the Coconut trees. You can see how a little tree has grown out of the Coconut
seed (or fruit. Or nut. Whatever).
And then some more beaches. We didn't take a lot of photos on Corcovado - we were busy sweating. And dying (I was, anyway, Michal was quite alright).
La Sirena! That's the ranger's station at the end of day 1, near the airplane landing strip. You can see Gette in these
pictures, too. It was a beautiful sunset this day.
We took the plane back. It was a tiny one, I had to sit in the Cockpit. Still, we got some great pictures of Corcovado
from above.
Here are some pictures we took in the Osa peninsula, on the way back from Corcovado...
