MonteVerde
Monte Verde is one of our favorite spots in Costa Rica. Even though it was cloudy, and rainy, we still loved it.
The town of Santa Elena is nice - with some nice places to eat (Stella's is great). There's also the usual costa rican
attractions - a butterfly farm, a serpentarium and a ranarium (Frog farm). We actually did go to the Frog farm, which
is not worth the money in my opinion - just some frogs in cages. Still I got such a good picture of the costa rican
frog...
This is a short video (AVI, about 3MB) of the frog in the Ranarium. You can click on it to see the movie, or right-click
it and save the movie on your computer.
MonteVerde Reserve
The MonteVerde reserve (or national park) is really nice - This is a Cloud Forest, and indeed it was so cloudy and
beautiful...
Canopy tour
Monte Verde is where all the Canopy tour frenzy has begun (Or so they say). The Canopy tour we went to was indeed great,
with much longer zip wires and higher trees than in Tortuguero, and the tour also included a walk on some 7 hanging bridges.
It was so cloudy - most of the wires and bridges seem to go on forever into the clouds...This is a must!
