Pachira Lodge
We stayed in Pachira Lodge, which is said to be the best of the lodges in Tortuguero. We think it is an excellent
place indeed. We met some really nice people there - Druthi and AJ from the US, and Emily & David from France. Hi Guys!!!
Our guide was named George, and he was really friendly and helpful, and all together great. Even Willis, our "skipper" as it seems is
fondly remembered. Here are some pictures from the lodge. In the 2nd day, a couple of Iguanas came to our pool, and just
swan about and mingled with the guests. And of course I had my camera ready. The last picture here (Those red flowers) is
dedicated to Michal's sister - Ronit.
When we woke up to do a tour in the canals, we witnessed a beautiful sunrise (I always thought that the sunsets are
the good looking ones, but there you go). Throughout the trip we used to get up really early (5:00 or 5:30) to catch
the early birds, as they say (or really the early monkeys).
Canopy tour
Every respectable person in Costa Rica has his own Canopy Tour. These things are virtually littered around the country. The basic
idea is that you go up a tree, and then hop over to another tree, and so on until there are no more trees. Usually you do it with a
Zip-Wire thing (They call this an "Omega" in israel). Or sometimes you just use a bridge. Or an old ski lift. Anyway, the Tortuguero
one was the first one we did, and they used a Zip Wire. It was really fun, and it really helped to "bond" our group together. When compared to the big
(And the original) Canopy Tours in Monte Verde though, it is not as much fun.
