A weekend in Kiev
My dad has started this great tradition of inviting me to a weekend in europe, once every 6 months or so. I get to choose
the city, and this time I wanted to go to Kiev (Quite an eastern-europe streak, after Bucharest and Budapest).
I wanted to go to Kiev because I have two friends that were born there (Hey Trup and Bob!), and I was always fascinated by
Russia (Okay, it's the Ukraine, but it is alsost Russia).
Anyway Kiev is a beautiful city - lot's of parks and trees, and lot's of old buildings and churches. I'm sure you'll enjoy this short
travelogue...

Dniepro
We stayed in a nice Hotel (Dniepro hotel), in a great location - 2 Khreshchatyk st. Khreshchatyk is 'the' street in Kiev,
where all the action takes place (no, really!). There are great views to the Dniepro river from the hotel.
In the first day, we did some walking - to the nice Arc (The Rainbow Arc) on the hill next to the hotel - climbing hills is always fun.
Boat trip on the Dniepro
After climbing the hill, we went down to the river, and took a boat ride for about an hour or two, it was nice, there are great
views from the river. Check out those beautiful churches (Part of the Lavra, that we saw on the second day) and that huge
Mother-Land (Rodina Mat') statue next to it...
This is a short video (AVI, about 4MB) that I took during the boat trip. You can click on it to see the movie, or right-click
it and save the movie on your computer.
