Back to Manali

After about 2 days in Rishikesh we were really miserable (and somewhat wet). Then we came up with the brilliant idea of going back to Manali, where the sun is always shining, the bread is hot and the treks are plentiful.
This time we took a private taxi, and off we went to a 14 hour's drive. It was a funny little Tata car, with a cool Hindu-style dashboard.
On the way there we encountered an India-only scene - some women were blocking the road, protesting against monkeys. Yeah - it seems that they are attacking and stealing food from the people, and the government is doing nothing to help.
We offered our sympathy, but they wouldn't let us drive through. The TV came, and after two hours they let us pass...


Back in Manali, we felt like coming home. Everything was as we remembered it. We really loved Manali!


We wanted to send some books back home, and it was quite the experience. You have to go to a tailor to wrap it in some cloth, and then it takes about an hour to send it in the mail office. Here's the nice tailors who made my package -
