Shivta

We went to a week-end in Shivta, together with Gal & Yael (or, rather Gool & Yool). Shivta is actually an historic town, deserted long ago (during the Roman empire or something like that. Pre-3G days). Today there's an artillery base nearby (where Gal actually spent most of his army days), and a small "hotel" - or rather a couple of cabins/rooms you can rent.
Gal is a friend, back from the ol' army days, and we also traveled in NZ together for a few months. Today he is into the backgammon business - "because I like money"™. Yael is his nice girl-friend (not sure how he tricked her into this relationship).

It was a fun weekend. Sadly, I don't have any photos of the cabins...

Anyway, the first thing we did, was drive south and stop for lunch -

Then we went to see this nice Fort. It's a 'Nabati' fort. Nabati are these sort of people that, well, built forts. Or at least one, anyway.

Next on our list (well, it was the next day, really) was a trip up the Scorpion-rise, and down the Zin river. It's an excellent little hike. The way down is especially fun, as you go inside the dry river creek, climb down the crevices, use ropes and ladders and slides...
Gal was the usual walking advertisement.

The last thing on my photo list is the small walk we did to the ol' Shivta town. It's quite an achievement to be able to drag Michal to an archeology site (Usually I have to resort to drugs, but this time I guess the heat did its work on her).
