Our trip to Amud river

Welcome to our Amud (Pillar) trip page. In May 2003, Michal and I went to a 2-day trip to Amud (Pillar in hebrew) River. This river goes all the way from the Meiron Mountain to the sea of galilei (Kineret). It is a wonderful 2-days trip, well recommended. Here's the place to thank Gal who recommended this trip!

Basically it is a 2-day trip, the first day is in the upper river, and the second in the lower part, all the way to the sea of galilei - it flows right into Kibbutz Genosar (where we left our car). The best parts were in the upper-river, I think, because the lower-part was more dry. But both days are good, and there's also the rock formations in the canyon, at the end of the 2nd day which are great. Bathing in the lake after those extremely hot days was also terrific...

Lovely views of the Amud-River canyon.
The river oozing along (cool, eh?).
Michal resting by the river.
The river, up near Meiron mountain.
Some more great views. This is quite a place, eh?
Ein-Seter. This is the place where we spent the night. Very beautiful plateau, about 20 meters above the river itself. Great place to stop.
One of the waterfalls of the river. Not exaclt the view you would have expected from an israeli tramp, but there you have it!.
The second day (the lower part of the river) was more barren, and the cliffs of the valley had some strange rock formations.
The is the Pillar ("Amud"), after which the river is named.
